  Manguzi, Engozini - A new chapter in educational excellence has begun in the Manguzi community with the grand opening of UMINATHI CHRISTIAN COLLEGE. The 2023 edition of the Comrades Marathon, one of South Africa's most iconic and grueling long-distance races, saw a number of remarkable performances from runners across the country. However, few communities could be prouder than Manguzi, a small town located in the northern corner of KwaZulu-Natal. Leading the charge was Kwanda Sibiya, an athlete who had been quietly making a name for himself on the provincial circuit for several years.  "I'm really happy with my race today," Sibiya said after the event. "The weather was tough, but I had good support from my family, colleagues, my sponsors and the people of Manguzi. They've always believed in me, and this is a special moment for all of us." But Sibiya was far from the only runner from Manguzi to make waves at the event. In fact, the town made up a significant portion of the field, with dozens of residents taking on the grueling 87-kilometer course. Among them was Phumzane Ntuli, Cebo “Mr Vibe” Mthembu.

KZN PROVINCIAL SPEAKER NONTEMBEKA BOYCE DURING THE AWARDING OF PRIZES TO SISANDA MTHEMBU FROM EKUTHUKUZENI PRIMARY Mpendulo Bukhosini receiving the prizes from deputy speaker Themba Mthembu Umhlabuyalingana CMC has emerged victorious in the KZN Legislature Poetry and Speech Contest. Ozabeni Primary represented by Mpendulo Bukhosini took number 1 in poetry, Ekuthukuzeni Primary took number 6 in Speech contest both representing umkhanyakude District and Umhlabuyalingana CMC.   The contest saw participation from more than 74 primary schools in the province, with Umkhanyakude District managing to dominate the top 10. The selection of winners was based on the content of the video, shooting of the clip, gestures and votes. Manguzi News group on Facebook, parents, teachers and learners are thanked for casting their votes. Contestants won CERTIFICATE and HP Laptop respectively from MTN.  Congratulations to all the winners and participants!

  Manguzi, South Africa - Sphila Msweli, a young woman from Thandizwe Area, has taken the Miss South Africa International crown. The beauty pageant took place on April 22nd 2023 in Durban, where Msweli went head to head with several other competitive participants.   After a fierce competition, Msweli was crowned the winner and is set to represent South Africa at the Miss International pageant held in Tennessee, USA in July 2023. The news of her win quickly spread throughout the country, and many are now eagerly anticipating her journey to America. Msweli's journey to becoming South Africa's representative at Miss International has been one of hard work, dedication, and ambition. From an early age, she had a passion for modeling and fashion, which led her to pursue this career.   Sifundo Mthembu, a 20-year-old from the rural town of Jozini in KwaZulu-Natal, has made headlines after graduating with a Bachelor of Science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) at such a young age. Mthembu always took his education seriously and worked hard to achieve his goals. He recalled being the youngest student in his classes and always producing outstanding marks. “I was taught to love my books from a tender age,” he said. “I was also the youngest learner in Grade 12 and always produced great marks.” Mthembu's determination and hard work paid off when he received his Bachelor of Science degree from UKZN. He acknowledged that his aunt played a significant role in inspiring him to pursue his dreams. "My aunt raised me while she worked for crop farmers in the Jozini area," he explained.   Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Ms Nomasonto Motaung, (MP), will be visiting Maputaland Community Radio 107.6 FM station on Friday 05 May 2023 to unveil their brand-new state-of-the-art broadcast studios. This is an important milestone for the community radio station, based in uMkhanyakude district municipality in the Kwazulu-Natal province, as it will provide a platform for better communication between the local community and government structures. The station was established by three community members affiliated with Maputaland Youth Development Agency, who identified major communication gaps within their community due to poor road infrastructure, telecommunication services and cellular network services. The community was completely isolated from receiving information and news from the rest of the country, since there was no community newspaper circulating in the area. Maputaland Community Radio broadcasts primarily in isiZulu (75%), Xitsonga (2%), Siswati (3%) and English (20%)
